Senior Associate Courtney B. McFate represents clients in a wide range of litigation matters, focusing her practice on employment, construction defect litigation, and personal injury. Her employment practice focuses on counseling and representing employers and independent contractors in the preparation of employment agreements and in employment litigation involving wage and hour and disputes related to harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. Courtney has excelled in her ability to handle multi-million dollar complex construction litigation matters on behalf of general contractors, developers, contractors, construction managers, and design professionals.

Courtney graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and from CSU Los Angeles with a Master’s degree in Communication Studies.  Prior to law school, she worked as a litigation paralegal for several prominent firms.  While in law school she was a member of GGU’s law review and worked as a judicial extern at the United States District Court, Northern District and a law clerk at the State Bar of California in the Office of General Counsel.

Courtney has significant experience in counseling employers to avoid liability.  She has performed numerous trainings for employers and supervisors on issues of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, abusive conduct, and best practices for employers seeking to avoid employment litigation. Courtney has also conducted many personnel investigations for private employers on complaints including sexual harassment/assault, discrimination, retaliation, abusive conduct, and issues involving protected union activity.
